FOR THE COMMUNITY, BY THE COMMUNITY

Mission
We all have something we need. We all have something to give.
Mutual aid is an age-old practice of solidarity. When communities come together without judgment or policing practices, unencumbered by politics and procedure, we can meet each other's needs with compassion and efficiency. This is an effort to cultivate a community where we can all take what we need, when we need, and give what we can, when we can.
We operate within the framework that a sense of belonging creates resiliency and a ripple effect that can increase our capacity to engage in an ongoing practice of change-making. Through the relational practice of mutual aid, we seek to foster sustainable wellbeing instead of constant crisis response.

Vision
The Take Care Cooperative operates outside the confines of capitalism and organizational funding, and is fighting toward a vision of equity, collaboration, and abolition of policing and prison systems. We know and trust that community members know what they need, and we do not police how often anyone utilizes these supports.

Community organized. Community run. Community centered.

Values
Community
Stability creates safety, and a sense of belonging allows us to live meaningfully.
Dignity
All humans are inherently valuable and deserve access to basic needs.
Collaboration
Every person knows best what their own needs are. When we listen to this, we can act in solidarity and without charity.
Sustainability
A genuine sense of support, value, and belonging enables us to live peacefully and outside of crisis.
What can we do for each other?
When communities act together, we are capable for taking care of each other.
Donate
Whether it's clothing, food, toys, appliances, pet supplies, diapers, funds, or space, consider giving directly to the community where people can access things without being policed or judged for what we need.
Volunteer
If time and energy are your greatest resources, contact us to find out how you can give some to your community.
Share a skill
Consider sharing your expertise with those in your community who may not otherwise be able to access it. Some examples include appliance repair, yard work, music lessons, therapy, mentoring, legal advice, transportation. Giving what we have when we can to exist in solidarity with each other.
Educate
Sharing knowledge is incredibly valuable. If you specialize in any subject or trade, such as education, self-defense, fitness, or even navigating the challenges of modern technology, you might consider offering classes, drop in time, tutoring, materials, or trainings to your community.
